    Free recovery equipment.

A big thank-you to those people who travel on 4wd tracks and corrugated roads with their rated D-shackles or bow shackles hanging from their bullbar or towbar. I now have a healthy selection of rated shackles and I don't recall ever having to buy one. The brightly coloured pin catches the eye, the rest of the shackle is never far away. I even have a wireless winch remote control from a recent trip, unfortunately it's for a different brand of winch to mine but a mate will be able to use it. More useful than the japanese bumper-bar ends and wheel arch flares that line the mountain tracks.

I commute by bike and you'd be surprised what I find on the bike path - including one time a full pannier stuffed with files, purse and ID/security pass. It was so heavy I couldn't figure out how the owner hadn't noticed that it had fallen off her rack.

(And I then delivered it to her workplace. Blew a tyre doing it, because her pannier swung into my front tyre and punctured it and I then had to recover my bike with the Discovery later that night, but as they say no good deed goes unpunished.)
