The LROC (Sydney Bch) has been assisting twice a year for more than 10 years with this project. I've assisted a few times along with a few others from the forum - rofosixone, biggles and harrier plus afew others.

It's interesting working amongst the greenies but we have saved them an enormous amount of legwork by being able to deliver the trees and water right to the sites in sometimes difficult terrain. A side benefit is that our willingness to assist in such a project has resulted in them now having a more positive attitude to 4WD'ers

[quote] On Friday, the Land Rover Owners’ Club brought the plants to the site where they were laid out along the rows previously ripped by tractor.
The entire student population of Glen Alice school (eight children) helped lay out the plants, stakes and guards.
Because of the recent rains, the soil was quite damp.
This was good in that it meant less watering but bad in that some parts of the paddocks were dangerously wet.
One Land Rover owner managed to get bogged twice on Friday afternoon.
The volunteers worked from 8 am to 3 pm planting trees and putting guards around them.
This year very little watering was needed.
Usually the Land Rover Owners spend hours filling the 500 litre tanks on their trailers and driving between the rows as volunteers deftly water the new plants from a long yellow hose. On Saturday August 21, the volunteers planted 3000 trees, which brings the total planted in the valley to over 90,000. [end quote]

Nah - I wasn't an eye witness and haven't got pics.
Oh, and by the way - I wasn't even there this year.

That's Shonky territory (well they have a farm in the valley).
Great work to the LROCS and others involved.

I love Glen Davis and the whole Capertee Valley, it's one of my favourite spots in the world.
I lived there for a while when I was a wee fella.
In this run down old shack......
