When you start a conversation with Gerry McGovern, Design Director and Chief Creative Officer for Land Rover, you never quite know where it's going to end up. The occasion was the Paris Motor Show, where Land Rover has just debuted its newest, possibly ...

Well I got about 3 paragraphs into that one.
Between a site not optimized for tablets (every time I scrolled down, it took me off to another article that wasn't even visible on the page as a link, 8 times in total)
And reference to Discovery (4) as a brutalist (!?) Design. I hope he is nowhere near the sketches of the new defender!!
Cheers, BDave.

Not too much missed mate just some more bombastic design speak. I have trouble staying awake when people start talking in art critic levels of design speak. You read the only tangible part: in his view the disco is rugged and brutalist and intends on refining it. His saving grace was that "overt" ruggedness is what the defender is about so it sounds like he shouldn't get a guernsey on that project

Seems to me that he is committed to 'elevating' the D5 from the worlds best family 4wd to povo pack Rangie!?

You really think there is going to be a new Defender? I really doubt it personally. I think they'll string everyone on for another couple of years then dump the concept. After all, they're only going to upset die hard old school Land Rover owners - who certianly don't make up the demographic they're targeting.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Not holding my breath but think there will be something, ranging anywhere from awesome to a defender anniversary edition of the D20 which consists of a chrome badge on the back and removal of door seals.
