This will be really interesting. I think it'll be the start of some fairly common practice for commericial series racing.
I wonder what they might compare F1 car to.
I've got no doubt that the 5 litre V8 supercars will also be compared to their road going versions with 6.0, 6.2 and perhaps 7.0V8 motors in the commodores.... Ford will be stuffed.![]()
I wonder if the flow on implications will be that manufacturers tip in even more fuel into the high rev WOT mappings for their production performance car models to free up more power potential in the race cars which would be excellent for their marketing, but may infact have the reverse effects that the motorsports governing bodies were hoping for. This would probably have no effect on the daily fuel consumption or testing results of the road car anyway as they dont test into those particular parts of the mapping. win-win
