Where to get a LRS1 (88", 1958) Wiring Loom (Melbourne)? Should I recondition transm?

    Hi,

I am back. Sorry for being absent for so long. Work, new baby and all the other excuses.

Meanwhile Hebe has been taken apart, painted, engine reconditioned, and many new old stock parts obtained.... I will update with pictures soon.

    Two questions:

    A)
I still need a new Wiring Loom. Any recomendations where to get one? (Need to add indicators as well). As original looking but cheap as possible... I would prefer to deal with a supplier in Melbourne, but then again... I wouldn't mind ordering one from the UK. Any suggestions? Experiences?

Next I have my transmission out. It would be a good time to recondition it. However, who can do this in Melbourne at a reasonable price? It was previously working... just the regular old age looseness etc. Should I recondition, or just put it back in? If yes, where?

    Thanks,

    Kris

You have the Series 1 Shop - in Victoria - they have your loom. I've bought various things from them and they are good.

If you have it out, I would be inclined to at least check it over. It is likely that there is nothing much wrong with it, but quite possibly a few bearings and seals could do with replacing. If you were able to pull your Series 1 apart, and plan to reassemble it, and have a workshop manual and parts book, then there is no reason why you can't do this yourself - you would learn a lot, and save a lot of money.

I ordered one from Autosparks in the UK a few weeks ago. 204 Pounds delivered and it took about 3 weeks for a 107 with blinkers as well as the headlight loom. Very good service, you ask them for a quote via email and then once it's done they send you a link to the quote to order on line.
    Ended up being $343.98 AUD

    Hi Digger,

Thanks for that. I had a look at your post. I also requested a quote from them and got their Excel sheet. Since it lists extras, what did you end up ordering yourself?

    Regards,

    Kris
