    LAND56A

LAND56A... That's the badge, according to my better half in Sydney.
Now, that I think about it, (if this is the year of manufacturin), I am at the wrong forum -it is a series 1!
Her (the missuss's) description is a bit vague, but I am still impressed, that she called me just because she found (NOTICED) a "strange" Land Rover in the parking lot!!
So did anybody heard of this kind of marking?
Heck, if it is a Series 1, they are thin on the ground this days... the licence plate is LR-656... maybe HE is listening too!

Yes I did. Did you actually READ the message? ("Now, that I think about it, (if this is the year of manufacturin), I am at the wrong forum -it is a series 1!")
Anyway, what is wrong to widen the search anyway...?
Sooooo... do you have something usefull, instructive to add too, or are youjust being picky? Walter

I read your message and it made absolutely no sense to me, still doesnt. If i squint and try and read between the lines i get something about your wife seeing a vehicle and giving you some sort of number that doesnt relate to anything and you asking some sort of question from there. Other than that i have no idea what your on about.

    1956 LR

    Hi Walter,

Yes, it is a 1956 Series 1 Hard Top that was fitted out to drive from the UK to South Africa when new. The present owner's family acquired it and it was later brought to Australia by them. He is a well known Land Rover and Rover enthusiast here in Sydney.
It gets along to most enthusiasts days too.

I will try and have a look at the badge in question and see what it is. The vehicle's Registration number is LR656.

    Moderator hat on!

Come on guys, play the topic not the person.

We were all new in this place once!

    Diana

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

what a great picture and in such good overall condition.
Love the duel horns on the front. (windtone horns)
I have several pairs of those, but haven't fitted them in that position because, I was not sure if rain would go in under force and corrode the horns?
I have seen many old cars with similar types fitted at the front, as in the picture, including chrome ones !
but still am cautious of fitting facing that way because of rain?
