    CARBY differnce 2 litre 1955

When the spread bore engine was released, they changed the carby specs. slightly. The main air correction jet was increased to a 240 size from the 170 as fitted to the siamese bore ....

The air correction jet is your main air bleed to the imulsion tube , where the petrol and air are mixed/imulsified inside the tube , so its important . They also increased the economy jet size .

Does anyone know why they did this ? Something must have been wrong on the Siamese carby ??

Mike - thanks for highlighting that change.

My station wagon has a siamese engine in it when it should have a spreadbore. I have a correct engine without some of the ancillaries to go in the vehicle and was going to move things like the carby and dizzy from the siamese to the spreadbore.

I guess the increase in jet sizes etc was to give the spreadbore a bit more zoom zoom.

Maby it has something to to with the slightly different compression ratio because of the metal head gasket on the siamese engine . Did they change the distributor and vacuum advance at the same time?

The factory dissy was changed at least 3 times during series 1 production.... and many other Lucas dissys will fit too , from other contemporary vehicles from Britain.
