    Clearing Sale Eumungerie

Went to a clearing sale at Eumungerie today. The item of interest was the Series 1 pictured below. It is fitted with a Fiat tractor engine, and is in regular use. As can be seen from the photo, it came with a spare windscreen and a spare of complete doors. Not as obvious is it also came with an extra pair of lower doors and its tailgate, plus owner's manuals for both the Landrover and the engine. It has four near new tyres. Rear axle is fully floating, possibly off a later Series. I was unable to find a serial number.

It sold for $1000. Next to it was four pallets of parts, mostly of little interest - used and rusty for the most part, included a spare Fiat engine wit one con rod sticking out the side. But there were a pair of new hubs, and a long half axle plus two new drive flanges. The parts sold for a total of $180 if I remember correctly. The same buyer for everything. He comes from near Mudgee, says he has seventeen Series 1s, and does not have internet access, and seemed to have little interest in getting it.

Also there I met Tote and his wife.

How was the spreader being driven, or was it just sitting in there?

    Cheers,

If you have a look you can see a large sprocket mounted outboard on the RH rear wheel, by foot long pipes welded to the wheel. A chain can be connected from it to a small sprocket on the spreader, with an idler tensioned by a large spring to take up the motion of the suspension. Although I suspect with the hopper full it would be riding on the spring stops!

OK, thanks guys. I couldn't see the sprocket on the wheel, due to the door.

    $1000 for a spreader? ....... cheap!!

    Cheers,
    Daryl.
