She has sat for too long unattended, she last ran for the Vic AULRO X-mas do at Puckapunyal Tank Museum.

So what makes this supposedly an ex mil series 1 - certainly the tool holders and the rear lights would seem to be later add ons?

If it is Ex mil and I had to put money on it, I would be looking at NZ military records.
It could have been ex RAN but there would be little in the way of body features to confirm this - I suppose you have checked the Navy delivery records from the 50s that are floating around on the forums somewhere.
Good luck with the search though.
