Thread: Squeeky brakes

This is normal, advanced warning system so object moves and you don’t need to slow.

Not sure why this is happening, but I can add that all my brakes are new (shoes, drums, cylinders, lines) and they are (and always were) silent. So I don't think it's a matter of them bedding in necessarily.

I took off the RH rear drum and the lining has powdery blackish stuff on it .. this is causing the squeaking . This lining had previously had brake fliud on it and somehow it has contaminated the lining material and its gone powdery .. weird. These modern linings must be made from a more sensitive material than the old asbestos ones

thats happened to me before, its from fluid previously soaked into the lining.
get a rag soak it in kerosine wrap it around the brake shoe and light it on fire it should suck out the fluid and dry out the shoe.
it might stuff the lining up but ive tried it on older shoes and has worked, some one on the forum told me about this.

do it in a safe manner.
