Coffs Harbour - Vehicle History and Infomation

    Hello,

My early Series 1 R860855 has a 1954 2.0L Engine fitted. But retained the 1948 Flywheel and Clutch, Dynamo, Distributor and Carb

Engine Also Features a unique rebuild plate of a Company called "Angas Enginnering Co Ltd" Dated 20-09-58 with a job number and what was done.

    The Engine Number is: 47100747

I have often wondered when and where this engine was fitted and most importantly what happened to the original. (original engine was 860798)

So starting the quest to find the original i wrote to the RTA in a long shot thinking they might have a record for this engine number against a vehicle. Long Shot indeed but it paid off.

    I got the following reply:

"Of the engine numbers in question belonged to a 1955 Land Rover green in colour Number plates in 1984 were GTS-938 registration was cancelled 17 March 1984"

So digging deeper i found through (Lots of Landies) (Thanks Diana) The this engine belonged to a vehicle"

"Car Number 47600074 With engine: 47100747 that was allocated to Claude Smith and Sons Coffs Harbour on the 24/11/1953"

So my questions are if any one could help me with

1: Angas Enginnering? Could they be Coffs Harbour being rebuilt in 1958 shows it did some work.

    2: 1954-55 86" Land Rover
47600074 anyone out there own one with this chassis number?
