Series 1 on HMS Ark Royal May 1957

Found these pictures while looking for something else. Am I the only one who seems to go off on tangents when looking for information on the internet?

    HMS Ark Royal

There are 2 good pictures of the Land-Rover in the second row of pictures

    Good find.

    Top find 3 Toes

Looks like the seats have been upholstered in white as well, which would look rather fetching with the Navy Blue.

My Dad was a chopper pilot on this ship!

Any clues anyone, as to what the looped arrangement just above the park lights on the left hand front guard is?
Looks like an antenna system of some description with a short white "whip' fitted with a couple of semicircular loops to the mount.
Also of interest that no banner is being flown from the staff on the guard either
    Regards
    Glen

    80"

Departure angle looks a bit flat.
Hit the throttle with that hand rail and the driver may have been washing a lot of deck.

Yeah, especially given that Lizzy (and Phil the Greek, for that matter) look in pretty good shape there - so there's what, 150kg in the back of that truck?

PS - then again, the way Phil is looking at Liz - the crown jewels might be on board too.
