Give Lumley Special Vehicles a call - I have my Jag and 101 insured with them and they have a low premium with good cover - also give the wreck back for free if written off - unlike Shannons that only give some wrecks back but not others where you get first option to buy (eg they will not give my 101 wreck back if it got written off).

Interesting. My 80" is with Shannons - previously GIO, & I have salvage rights to the vehicle if it is a write off. I hope to never need it!

    insurance

    Hi All
Garry I have 4 cars with Shannons
the series ones I get the wreck
you need to check, they have said on my paper work, they are mine if totaled.
the disco is the same as any other crowd, but they will give me a ins amount of 12k, well above anyone else.
it cost me just a tad over $300 to insure the 49 and 2 58's for a total of some 65K in value
when you include the day day drive i get it all for around $750
far cheaper than any one else
    cheers

As I said - Shannons pick and choose who gets wreck retention - maybe age related I am not sure what the criteria is - I last checked Shannons when I renewed my 101 insurance in August - they would not include wreck retention in a policy so I renewed with Lumleys - similar cover, wreck retention and a much cheaper policy.

Mine is through Shannons too. Comprehensive insurance for a value of $15,000 for something like $90.00 per annum. I also get the wreck in the event of the unthinkable happening.

Who's vehicles are on club plates versus useful registration? There was no way I could get comprehensive for $90 from any of the ins companies listed here or not. Ended up going with GIO for both of mine as they cover off road, wreck rights are mine and so forth. I pay about a thousand a year for my pair (The 2a is fully insured just not yet regoed-bit of a waste of money but its paid already)

Lumley and Shannons didn't want to know me since I can't keep the vehicles locked up in a garage and never actually drive them.

Umm - my S1 is on club plates - I find that very useful. As for price, we have our Defender, S1, Mazda and house all insured with Shannons, and as a result, we get a good discount. My S1 sits in a unlocked carport and is driven every weekend and once during the week - legally.

Hi Scallops, I did not mean to sound as if conditional rego isn't useful, more that you can't use it as and when you please like full rego-at whim for trips to the shops, pub, mates place etc. Conditional rego is for enjoying a vehicle, not simply using it. In my opinion of course!
Obviously a person's mileage will vary with whichever insurance company they choose, but knowing why one person gets $90p.a. insurance versus another at $400pa can help the OP make a better choice.
