Does the bezel not unscrew from the front?
Before I get too heavy handed, is there someone out there who can enlighten me as to how the bulb holder section of the Oil pressure warning light is held in the casing of the same warning light in a 1950 80".
I have turned the spring retaining collar slightly and now the outer casing is loose in the dash board but the inner section, which I assume is made of bakelite or its equivalent, doesn't want to budge.
Until the inner section is separated from the casing I can't remove the casing from the dash.
Is it a bayonet fitting?
I hope its just the rust stopping it at the moment.
Any clues?
Regards
Glen

Does the bezel not unscrew from the front?
The bit on the back is a interfearance fit, however with time and rust can be hard to remove, it just pushes in.
The spring is held in with the collar, from memory you need to turn the collar until a notch in it lines up with a lump in the main body, it will then come off with the spring, rust can make this awkward
The unit can then be pushed out the front of the dash, again rust will be your enemysigh alloy and steel just dont mix well.
Maby once the spring is off give the body a good clean with emery to make things easier.
Hope this helps

On the Ign, and choke lights, yes, but not on the Oil light.
Northern Lander, Yes I thought it may have been simply a tight fit hindered by some rust, as I note there is a split section on the outer housing that should spread, but I would like to be sure.
I don't have my book with me at the moment.
I will hit it with some WD40 and leave it overnight and try again in the morning.
Thanks
Glen

Thats ok, I have had one that was so rusty that when I tried to remove it, when I didn't know how it fitter it fell apartah live and lern.
The cleaner you can get it the better, just be carefull when removing the back cover with the fiber disk, it can break easily!
Also I think the unit has the split in it to allow some tension to stop the light housing falling out.
