Recirculating ball steering box to suit 88" 109"

Hi people over last weekend I drove a friends 1957 88" nice looking car but the steering box is a nightmare. It has been retrofitted with an 86" / 107" worm and nut steering box which is worn out.

I think it should have it's correct box re-fitted which requires finding a good second hand or reconditioned S1 recirculating ball box.

    Anyone got one available?

    Diana

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Excuse my ignorance on this one . Can a series 2 steering box fit a late series 1 ? Or are they totally different items ?

I would say yes as I had replaced the steeringbox with one from a 2A on my old Zebra painted 109 series 1.
I also recomend fitting the stiffing bracket that is used on the 2A /3 Landys as it help to stop the the whole steering moving side to side and box flexing the metal on the firewall when you have 700X16 or larger tyres fitted.

20 years ago I did the same for my 86 - improved the steering heaps.

Did I see your old 109 outside Fourx4 in Newcastle just before Christmas - there was a zebra LWB series 1 ute parked out the front.
