Is this the most expensive unrestored 53 s1?

Land Rover 1953 Series 1 SWB -VINTAGE LANDROVER- (eBay item 190556949550 end time 17-Aug-11 00:31:31 AEST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

I think its one that belonged to a bloke who used to live at LOXTON, if so its been offered for sale a number of times since his death by relatives always at a very expensive offering price.

Maybe nice at 1 or 2 grand...

It looks to be in reasonable shape, and 80" Landrovers are rising in price - but I don't think it is worth anything like that (yet) - might be in a few years, though, particularly if the UK economy (and pound) picks up.

    prices

Six years back , I was hunting around for a 80" to restore . I got onto a 53 model up in the Wimmera region of Victoria . It turns out it had done only 40K miles from new , it had been used to tow wheat bins around a farm and had been sold new from the local dealer . I believed the nice old chap, as the photos he sent me showed a dead straight unmolested car . He was asking $2k with a heap of spares, bulkheads and virtually another car in bits .

I passed on the info to the LROCV and it was snapped up . I do silly things like that all the time .

These EBAY silly prices are for the birds ..... but some niave buyer comes along and pays the money ..then all 80" rovers are worth 10K ....

So not only is it overpriced but the images aren't even representative of the item plus if thats been restored I'll eat the windscreen wipers.

off topic I know but that one is mine now,got it from Donald. Difficult Cockie, took my deposit then wanted to sell it to someone else. All the spares were not included in the price he sold me the car for.

Interesting. He wasn't like that with me .. but then again, I didn't buy it .

Doubt you will find a better one . Look at the many wrecks out there that are stuffed and need years of work . I kicked myself for not buying it .

    Hi there all

I know the car - the previous owner who passed away had it for sale for 3k and he couldnt find a buyer - but it would now seem the family think its worth more.

Wish them well, but its still a 2-3k car.

    All the best

I sent a message asking is it was a typo. They said no but I was free to make an offer, so I offered $900-. Haven't heard back.
