    A Unique machine

Came accros this series one in Charlton, Victoria a few years back (2006).
Max, the owner bought the post hole auger new in 1956 along with a brand new series one, from a dealer in Mildura (Vic). The dealer also had an engineering business (Winton Engineering) and these augers were made using surplus aircraft equipment left over from the RAAF Training Base at the Mildura Airport.
Max who was well into his seventies, had worked as a full time fencing contractor since he purchased the outfit. This is the third series one he has fitted it to, as the previous two have been totally worn out. This old girl has buttons on the plug leads, combinations of rag and wood stuck in the welch plug holes, but she still runs, and only the previous week he had drilled stump holes for a house under construction, just up the road. The auger and three Series Ones served Max for fifty years as a fencing contractor.
Max was suffering prostate cancer at the time I took these photos and has since passed on.

    Cheers, Mick

    Hi Mick

I'm not the one to tell you how to post any pictures, as I do have a battle posting them myself.

But just to say I am looking forward to seeing them and maybe one of the other long term residents of this forum can give you a hand with some advice on how to get around the hiccup.

    Cheers Arthur
