What make carburetter ?
Seems as tho I broke the cast tube that is the housing for the emulsion tube. I tried to get it out to clean it and the top 4mm broke free. Can this be soldered back on???
All runs well-ish but not sure of the mixture screw setting. How is this set?? All in or nearly all in????
What make carburetter ?
Solex B32PBI-2 - sorry I should have mentioned this!
I've got in front of me a book called: Operation-Service-Tune up -Overhaul British Solex Carburetters. They recommend Araldite or Loctite as a SEALING compound for the emulsion tube.
It also says:When re-installing the well take care to line up the positioning key with the recess in the holder.
I managed to fix a broken tube by pushing clear plastic tubing over it.(make sure you don't cover up any holes).
Great idea, I wonder if heat shrink would also work as it could make for a good hold. The choke tube has black soot on the walls, so is there anything that could degrade the plastic tube?
What does the book say about the mixture screw setting. The old screw was set a 1 complete turn from all-in.
Thanks for the input. Muchly appreciated.
Heat shrink should work ,unless it's affected by petrol.
Mixture screw:Turn it gently until it seats ,then unscrew two full turns. Now start engine.
Once the engine starts you do the normal tune-up.
Done with shrink wrap and all seems to be good.
Gower & Lee in the UK sell brass replacement emulsion tube holder for 38 pounds. I hope the fix holds!
Thanks for your input B.S.F. Nut
Not too sure about heat shrink, but I know of 1 repaired with 1/4 plastic tube heated up and pushed over, worked for at least 10 years.
The problem is not uncommon if people have used some form of lock tight.
Never seen a correction jet come out and never used any form of glue.
Good luck with it, you see a full carby or body on eBay now and then.

I've never been game enough to remove the emulsion tube, too fragile and the thing will break if you look at it too hard . It's just asking you : you silly bugger . try it and I will break . I clean it out with thinners and blow down there with compressed air . MIKE
