    Digger . I believe you are right. My understanding too is the early ones had the one piece top and front with a bolt on side.
    Next was the spot welded guard.
    Then the 2 piece top and front with bolt on side was on later models.

    I was recently visiting my brother in Tweed Heads and I was surprised by the amount of series Land Rovers on the road- some in amazing original condition too.
    Obviously, they were a popular and well used vehicle in the region.

    The one on the right seems to have some army features- military guards and extended spring hangers

    There are also some soft-top hood sticks that are sought after.
    I think the ones with the curved hip are S2s.

    I reckon my early description was vague enough that Diana thought I meant sides and top all one piece... thanks though, I was running for photos of HUE166!!
