I'm sure someone in Qld will have a better idea, as I was in Victoria when these appeared in Qld, I think late eighties, just going on memory.

Around 2000, from memory, I am sure somebody else would have a more accurate date.

    Cheers, Mick.

I have a GJC which was first registered late 2001. So my money would be on 2001.

Wasn't that during the sunshine state / smart state thing, so there was a wide range of letters in use at any one time?

I had sunshine state GOY plates. I think that was in 2000, but could check.

It's probably not a very accurate way of determining the age of the rego., as stacks of number plates would have been sent to regional centres. W.

    Rego

    Thanks,

I know that it is only an indicator. I wanted to get an estimate of when it was last roadworthy. I was after an indication of the seals and consumable parts. The car has had a "body off" restoration in the past.

The reason I didnt disclose the entire rego is that the car came from a deceased estate and there may be sensitivities relating to the past. I did it out of respect.

I see that the Letters would be a better indicator than the numbers. Thank you those that were able to cope my rather cryptic request.
