Looking for a good left hand guard if any one has one kicking around, the one on her now has been mauled. Also a set of series one rims, it has series 2 rims on it but they must be a different off set cos ive got very little steering
As promised ive put up a few pics of my barn find, last time this old girl seen rego was 1986! Shes a one owner vehicle with books and lived its life as a farm hack in Cooma NSW, she was trailered down to gippsland many years ago, was driven into a garage and there she sat until a chance conversation made her mine for the princely sum of $0000.
I intend to restore her from the ground up and keep her as original as i can

Mate that looks clean of rust around the vents, is the rest of it as rust free ? looks like a good project.
Cheers Chris
looks great. since you brought up the rims. I know on the 80' the rim has a date stamped on them as well as a number(i think) but what about the later s1 rims is there a way of telling, I think someone said the other day that they are 5'' while later series are 5.5''
I'm not sure, but I think that Series 2/2a swb rims are the same as Series 1 - the difference is Series 2/2a have wider rims on lwb, so you simply want swb wheels.
And I very much doubt your steering problem is much to do with the wheels - while the offset does differ a little, if they are genuine Landrover wheels (except Series 3 Game) the difference will have little influence on steering, although 7.50 tyres on a Series 1 does limit steering lock, which is none too good to start with, especially if it is a lwb (it is unclear from your post whether it is a lwb or swb or whether it is a 86 or 88 if swb (quite clearly not an 80)).

It's a long wheel base and yes no rust what so ever
Ill look further into the steering issues but I've got a 1948 s1 at my work so ill have a good look at it today and see if I can spot the problem

S1's have very little steering, as stated if it has 750s on it the stops may have been wound out to stop them rubbing, this limits the turning circle to a average footy ground.
There is little in common between a 1948 and the steering on a 109",
Good find.
