    re the steering id say i have a little over 2 inches,but i havent even started to check the tie rod ends etc . It steers quite well for its age{ive had valiants with heaps more play }
    Also check the pinch bolts on the pitman arm & idler box arms , also the nuts that hold the steering arms to the top of the swivel hubs. I had an article on steering box play out of an English L/R mag which tould you how much play there should be at the steering wheel , they came out new with play because they had no dampers this took the shock out of the steering when you hit a bump. Unfortunatly i have spent the last mounth looking for the article without success. I used to photocopy it & send it to people restoring 80's. i'll have another look Wayne

    yep , i ve found 2 clamps finger tight and fixing that made it better,also no padding under the u clamp on the steering column so 3 to 4 mm slop there ,so i feel better about it.
    If you find the article itd be great

    Hi mark , The first 3 photo's are of the metal jack handle that came with the series 2 jack i bought . The 4th drawing is ofr a 1950 L/R jack handle. The measurement of 1/4" for the shaft doesn't look correct ,I think it should be 3/8" or 1/2" . I am wanting to find out before i start making one so i get it correct. I think the article on the steering box was in Landrocer International about 10 years ago . Wayne
