My 56 S1 had one that was, as far as I can remember, identical to the Series 2/2a/3 item.
I suspect this is Australia specific, and probably varied at least in detail over the years.

just a query re the tailgate mounted bracket and plate light
is this a common peice aka 2, 2a
or series 1 specific ?

						I believe this is correct - the UK models generally had the rear license plate located on the offside left rear panel of the tub. The Australian trucks, and possibly some other export models, got the centre mounted light and pivoting bracket on the tailgate. It probably had as much to do with the shape of the local number plates as anything else.
From memory, you will find this detail in one of the Taylor books.

the main reason for the swing mount was to allow the no. plate to be seen when the tail gate was down
