1949 80" Replacement canvas... Which one

Hi
Do you all know much at all, speak to some one that has been there, and and done it, do not expound some one wrong ideas as the truth.
Exmoor make the heaviest canvas hoods, laser cut to exact size etc etc
I have 3 ranging from 49 to 58's series ones, they were far better and cheaper than any made in Aus.
I save a little by bringing them back in 07 and 09 in my luggage from the UK.
Back in 07 the exchange rate was some 20 new pence per $ less than today's rate.
Their seats for 58 L/R are exactly as original apart from the foam inserts.
From what I have seen their other seats on other models are just as good.
To travel long distance in early L/R must be done slowly with a good supply of pain killers and good Scotch to dull the pain.

my 2c

i have had an all wheel trim and an exmoor side by side and the all wheel trim wins hands down... except for the rope, i would have preferred the exmoor version of the rope.

don't know about their seats, never sat in one that i am aware of.

Yes and no, the only one is a Exmoor and it is on the 1949
Wayne E had a early one, he acquired one, not sure what year
may pay to tweet him to see if he still has it.

Agreed. I have an Exmoor from 2006 which is still made to the old standards. Very Good quality and a well made hood. I also have an Exmoor Hood from the Mid 1990s which is still holding together just also very good quality.

But....
I have also now seen 2009-2013 Exmoor hoods. The quality has really dropped off since then. Cheaper materials, Bad Fit. More expensive. They also stopped selling direct to the customer! Which is the worst thing they could ever do so they have now lost touch.

I have no experience with All Wheel Trim but do have first hand experience with undercovers. They are a step above both Exmoor and all wheel. Also what you get included with Undercovers you needed to buy with Exmoor as extras.

Eg. The Seat Base locators you had to buy separately if you got Exmoor seats. Undercover they are included.

I have have bought a tilt form both exmoor and undercover covers.
Exmoor charged extra for rope and brass hooks. Where undercover covers every thing is included.
I have had the exmoor tilt for 5 years on a vehicle that has only covered 1500 miles in that time, and I have found that it is ripping where the hood drapes over the windscreen. And the stitching is pulling out of the front tensioner flap at the front hoop.
The undercover cover looks to be heavier canvas and heavier thread on the stitching.
My money's on undercover covers.

I'm just about to order a new canvas for my 52 80in, undercover have been very helpful and have the colour available and ready to ship. I need new hood sticks, they can do them for £200. is there anyone else in Australia that can supply the frame or should I just go with the whole package from under covers?

if the 52's have flat hood sticks you can bend them up yourself {or get someone with a pipe bender.... } the pipe is gal electrical conduit, 16 gauge from memory but i have the details somewhere via a lrsoc post .One point on the debate re maker is that at least the older exmoor trim hoods{pre pro 3 man and boot string style } are 100% cotton canvas . I love mine ....but...try and get poly cotton ,it dosen't rot near as fast in our climate.

As a aide note { attn Hohars..} there was a pattern taken of my exmoor 3 man hood before it had shrunk fit my dodgy hoodstick attempt if youre looking at getting one made up
