    gasket

    Hi Mark

    I know that re'-using a copper sheathed gasket is no problem . I am not sure about the composite fibre type , it could be dodgy . You can apply some HYLOMAR to it , its the best gasket sealer around .. Super crap auto sells it . It is blue coloured stuff .

    more

    I asked somebody who is well versed in this area .

    he said yes you can re use it, but first , paint it with Silver paint eg something with aluminium in it , like the old silver frost paint . Or wattle kill rust silver, but you have to let it cure for a few days ..then apply the hylomar sealant over the silver paint

    Well I have used a copper/composite gasket 3 times, Sprayed it with Hylomar the last time.

    (Well, the compressions are only 110psi)

    It is still there, I will probably fit a new one next time though.....

    this isnt a solution to a new gasket im well aware that i really need to use a new one , im waiting for a head oil line banjo bolt metering plug from the uk and want to try out the 1960ish ford valve seal to see how it works in reducing oil being sucked down worn guides and badly sealed guides{the rubber o rings dont seem to last or work well}
    if it works i can do the rego thing next week.....if not its going to take at the best case 7 to 10 days for the plug to get here from craddock's and there slow. been 8 days and i havent been billed for postage..so they havent even got it in stock/packed..

    My compression guage has an air line conection ,ill look at some way of compressing the springs and leaving the head on first i think
