I put her up on the hoist at Simmos this morning and checked the diffs and hubs all good . They did it for free and gave me a beaut Callander as well.
Made it I'm to Bourke before dark. All going well in fact it's running better than when I picked it up. I met a bunch of indigenous kids at the garage full of questions. How old is that car mister ? What happens to your nose? Where are your number plates? I told them the task more questions than the coppers Does everything work mister ? "Yep even the locks on the doors " as I locked it up. The road to Tilpa is a bit of a mess apparently they have had a bit of rain lately. I will give it a go. I hope it's not too bad .![]()

Big day left Bourke and headed down along the dirt track to Wilcania via Louth and Tilpa. Lots of mud and water over the road. I jot the dizzy wet and had to wait a while to dry out. I even hot water in the cab. There were lots of deep wheel ruts to stradel full of water. It was quite a taxing drive around 360 K's of dirt . Back on the black top and it felt like I was driving a limo so smooth. Should get past Port Augusta and maybe to Ceduna tomorrow.
More pics from today
Lots more pics and video to upload but wi have to wait until home only 1 pic at a time on the phone.
Loving this thread, Defender Mike
I'm sure I'm not the only one watching who wish they were on the road with you
Thanks for the reports
Roger
I crossed the border this morning . Had a few dramas with wet dizy after I took her to the car wash in Broken Hill left about 1/2 a ton of mud and blocked their drain(sorry) . I dried her out and as good as new again. I'm in Yulta now heading to Port Augusta another 217 K's to go.

Great work Mike, loving it..
The photo is outside the old Bordergate hotel (the pub part is in NSW the toilets in SA, they used to take great delight in drinking in NSW and peeing in SA!!) at COCKBURN (pronounced CO_BURN!!)
You were in YUNTA on the barrier highway, if you chose the right route you'll pass through WILMINGTON and should call in to the toy museum and talk to Dave. Not sure if Ellard is about he lives not too far from there too.
Keep smiling
(even if you must be deaf by now)
