    Sounds like you had fun!
Wish I could have co-piloted that trip but as you know I had other plans.
Hoping to do it with my Perentie when I get it ( unless I get a WA unit).

Can I suggest you write an article and add the photos and submit to LRO and other mags?

The poms were shocked when we suggested we were travelling over 100 mile in one day when we were there, so your journey in a series 1 would make a great read for them.

It could start with the history of the vehicle, how you bought it from Kieth and naturally flow from there... include a map and daily Km itinery!!

I reckon its well worth putting in.

    Well done again.

Its a great looking vehicle too!

I tried to use Google maps and it was too hard for them as well.

"We could not calculate directions between Brighton, TAS and London, UK."

They could backtrack the trip done in the 80" Series 1 in the mid 1950s from Hobart to London if waypoints were available

I managed to stay dry somehow, but the windscreen wipers gave up and stopped along the way. Luckily only about 10km from home but it was raining so hard that even if they had been working it wouldn't have made that much difference.

Great to see Borumbah, Mike. It looks like a great find to steal off the East Coast

    Good compression

I took Borumbah over to Graeme's shed today and we did a compression test. 2 pots 125 psi and 2 at 120 so that's within spec going by the book . Graeme took her for a spin and noticed the gearbox is getting a bit noisy so I will do a bit on that soon but the engine should be good. She's burning nice grey plugs and has plenty of power. The miss has healed itself and after tightening the sump and side cover bolts a little the oil loss has decreased to and acceptable level. I will fit new gaskets to all the leaky bits . Had a great day at the the anniversary . Good to meet so many people I knew from the net face to face.

    Self healing Landrover

Ok I did tighten the sump , side cover and base of the dip stick tube but the oil leaks have disappeared. It was fuming badly and burning oil now it isn't?????. On the compression test it pulled 125 on 2 potts and 120 on the other 2 . It's running beautifully at the moment after I lashed out and bought a timing light and set the points. Could a good long run with several oil changes clean up the engine and get rid of gunk around the rings? I am pulling the gear box out of the 88 tomorrow and getting it reconditioned so I can do a quick changeover on the 109. I have been driving it around Perth a bit with no problems it keeps up with traffic ok. I called the Qld Dept of T'port today to find out where my plates are and they are now sending them direct to Perth. I have finished the video but its to long for UTube at 30 mins so now have to cut it into 2 sections when I work out how.
