    Series One & DC3 Cowombat Flat

    Didn't know to post this in Flight or Series One section

    Doug Stevenson (Forests Commision Vic) at Cowombat Flat 1960
    note they spell it Quambat Flat on the sign





    also note the F.C. VIC Stencil on the LandRover door.
    I put the same stencil on one of my 56" restorations
    it looks roughly like this ,


    I remember as a kid the first Landy I fell out of had the same stencil on the door (a FCV Series 2 )

    Bit of history, all that was left of the DC3 Wreck last time I went to Cowombat was a small part of the wing section.

    Did you look up the story of the crash ?

    RAAF Dakota out of Fairbairn had engine trouble and he put it down in the only open country for miles - interesting story
