Make sure you have the Earth, High Beam and the Low beam feeds in the right orientation on the pins on the back of the light.

The Horizontal pin is your Lowbeam Filament, the Vertical pins are the High beam and the common, which in your case should be earth. If you get the Earth and The High beam wires cross over it will light up dull on Low beam as it back feeds through the high beam filament "looking" for an earth. High Beam will be full brightness whatever way you put them around!

I didn't have the lights out though, and its only one that is the issue, Maybe I will look at the earth wires still just in case one is off, loose

A very nice looking series one you have there. The bench seat is interesting. Has it just been made up in one piece with an underside that is identical to the individual squabs? It would be good to see a pic of the underside of it.

Do you know how many sweeps per minute that motor does?

I may need to change mine for engineering here in NSW and they want two speed with the fast speed no slower than 45 sweeps per minute.

Mick here is a pick of the seat underside , its a bit of an issue come refueling with just one big squab , but i've got the technique down pat now I just balance one end on top of the steering wheel

Yorkshire John. The ones I got are single speed and do about 41 per minute. There are two speed ones but they are a different shape to mine and the Landy version. I put "boat windscreen wiper, two speed, 45 sweep" into Google and got quite a few hits. Sooooo, the "Katie" and i made it to the You Yangs mountain bike park today, shes started to get a bit hot in the last 30 k on the way there ( ive got an overflow bottle that picked up about two litres of coolant ) and also had what i thought might be a fuel vaporising issue ....... but about 40 k into the trip home she stopped, I suspect its water in the fuel tank. I only fitted a new pump the other day that cant be the issue surely. Funnily enough the pump was working again when I git her home so I was able to drive off the trailer

But good grief in a cross wind like we were getting hit with in SW Vic. today driving her is a very ......engaging experience, I swear I got arm pump and my shoulders know about it

Ok my learned friends, I want to take the fuel pick up out of the tank so I can check/clean the gauze filter on the end.
Anyone have any good tips for getting the screws out of the top of the tank. They are in pretty solid and it looks like someone at some stage has had a go at getting them out and flared the screws slots, needless to say its not helping

Judging by the thin layer of petrol and the large layer of water, I'd best drain the tank...

Locktite frease n release , dremmel the slots a bit deeper as well ( scratch all paint of the base plate as well).

I recon one of the gurus here said inline filters don't suit the su fuel pumps...
