Well not quite on road, lol, got lots of work to do, and bits to purchase 1st.
The trip home, on trailer behind 4bd1t county, was the fastest it had ever travelled!

Chassis number of our latest project R8663797, eng #06110249.
I'm guessing the engine has been replaced.
The vehicle was originally used by the South Aus electricity commission.
Always wanted a '48 or 49 model.
First landie I owned was a '51.

Well done, I'll be looking forward to the restoration story.

That's great news cant wait to see a few pics of the 49, looks like its had a replacement engine from a 1950 80" going by the engine number quoted.

Hi Dave,

Nice early 49 you have there. Should be Silver Chassis and painted light green. I've got some nice photos of smiler aged and chassis numbered 49s which would be a good reference when you start the restoration.

Quite a big amount of changes were happening 48-49 and there are quite a few major differences that you need to take note of when restoring and preserving parts. Some bits are not the same as used to the later 80s 50-53

Will be interesting to see if that engine kept the Rover Type clutch as they would have had to make some changes to the gearbox if they removed it.
