Great looking result, well done
Well done Jim. My son and I are just starting a very similar project, a 1958 88 S1! If you don't mind, where did you purchase your paint from, and do you have the codes?
The elbow grease and skunned knuckles is definitely worth it when there is a result like yours.
.
Below is my cheat sheet for paint with information collected from various parts of the internet. I did not actually buy the paint myself, but I supplied this information to two different shops and they were able to match the paint. Hope this helps.
1955 Land Rover body panel color is “Bronze Green” (or sometimes called “Deep Bronze Green”). Any of these codes are supposed to be correct:
- Rover No. RTC4042A
- Herberts 0428
- DuPont 38500A
- Ditzler 46451
- PPG Deltron Code 46451
- Glasurit LEY-637
- RM-Supermax RV-027
- Or the ICI paint code is Deep Bronze Green (P030-2651)
- 53% P030-9906 light Brunswick green
- 39% P030-9901 black
- 4% P030-9915 turkey red oxide
- 4% P030-9929 white
Previous body shop invoice says “cross code Debeer 3000 HS 2K urethane enamel (LRR (HSS))”
Well done, Jim. Inspiration to get on with mine.
One picture shows a seat belt mounting bar - is that a custom job or off the shelf?
Thanks for sharing your pics
Roger
I think that seat belt mount is a neat idea and it's what I will be needing as well.
