I thought you lot in WA were all heading up the Canning this season.
Now as an ex Yachtie I hear a rumour on the Grapevine that Defender Mike is now Yachtie Mike and on his way back from Fiji with a new purchase that wont be seeing the Canning
Any truth in this?

The word is, Yachtie Mike (a little the worse for wear) and crew complete with a "Hole in the water" have arrived in Brisbane.

I'm back in WA selling everything up except for the 109. The yachts on the Gold Coast. Hope to be back in a QLD in a few weeks. I managed to take a Borumbah to the Waroona vintage machinery show today . Looks like I will,be driving her back across Australia but this time with a new gearbox and a new fairey overdrive.

[/IMG]Well my good mate Graeme finished my overdrive while I was away complete with new lay gear that I had made here in Perth because you can't buy them. All new bearings shafts etc , so it's like brand new. We fitted it this morning and made a few modifications. I bought an oil catch can from Supacheap and converted the sump plug on the O/D to take a 90 deg 1/4 inch fitting. Plumed this up to the catch can and increased the oil resivour by 100%. The catch can had a sight tube so it's easy to keep an eye on the oil level. The can is mounted so the oil level when full is the same height as the O/D level. I took her for a test drive and it work great not a lot of noise. Quite a reduction in revs then higher top speed as expected. It engages very nicely with a positive feel but disengagement at speed is a bit grinding. There must be a knack to that try a blip of throttle or something. It may need some adjustment as well although there doesn't spear to be any on the rod that engages . I'm getting Borumbah all ready to drive back to Qld in the next few weeks . May fit some new brake pads and do the front CV deals which are getting a bit leaky.

Good Idea
Fixed the grind

I got onto Gus about the OD he suggested moving the selector fork a bit . This worked great moved a couple of mill and it disengages perfectly.
I will be back in a Qld soon and looking for somewhere to store Borumbah while we are cruising .

Are you going to have time to call in for a coffee before you bugger off to all points coastal around the planet?I'd be interested to hear your story as to how this all came about.
