Hi all
Finally getting on with it again
Gearbox and xfer case out, engine just sitting.
Contemplating insertion into stand, 4 x 3/8 bolts BSW into flywheel cover, or BSF into block after removing flywheel and cover.
Either/or, neither seems to be quite satisfactory for carrying 2litre "full motor". Guess someone here has done it. Which works best going down to basic block and rebuilding back to "full motor"?
I am tending towards the BSF into the Block but finding 3 1/2" 3/8 BSF problematic
Cheers

This might help Rick - photo of my block mounted to a bracket, which bolts through the flywheel housing holes and onto the engine mount points. From memory I used two or three high-tensile UNC bolts at the flywheel end; one is visible just below the yellow stand.
The advantage of this method is that everything except for the flywheel housing can be installed, into or onto the block. Mind you on this second photo it appears to still be glued to the stand, but I can't remember how I did it.
Apologies if this is not the answer you were looking for,
Cheers Charlie
I found some long BSF bolts in our workshop (sorry no spares) and adapted these using solid spacers.
Also the engine stand is a Supercheap one which has been in our workshop for years, - not really strong enough as it flexes a bit. I wouldn't trust this arrangement with this particular stand to work on this engine. I am using this to store a spare engine we picked up.
If you mount it this way it would be preferable to go into the block and have less overhang.

Thanks guys - love the lateral mount.
Will lift out and mount off the flywheel cover to strip; and rebuild in lateral position.
Block has to come out eventually to have at least the valve seats done, and much other stuff.
Cheers
