Looks like I am not done with this thread yet. I had a Series wiz drop in here today and he is almost certain the hardtop is off a Series 1 and whats more he spotted the holes down the left side in the rear where the 2 seats. similar to the front seats were mounted, thus making it a possible station wagon. To say the least, he was rather excited on seeing this.

The other side has a long storage box fitted covering any possible screw holes.

Side seats in the back do not make it a station wagon - these were an option on the soft tops almost from the beginning. I think the first official station wagons after the Tickford ones were 86".

I'm not sure what holes you are talking about, however from 1949 model R8666225 onwards, to the end or 80" production, the holes for the optional rear seats are pre-drilled in the rear seat boxes.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I am on a steep learning curve here. Thanks for the information John and Dianna.

The holes I am referring to are in the top inside lip of the rear tub. The first pic is the rear left inside and the second is again the left side towards the front. As John says could be an optional extra of later addition. None of the seat frames came with this vehicle.

I just checked 4 other 80 inch tubs and none have these holes

The Vin number of this vehicle is 06107939

    Thanks for any information

They are not the holes in the seat box I'm talking about and those ones may in fact be the holes for the back rests of the individual station wagon seats.

It may be worthwhile to ask Garrycol for images of the back of his 88 series one Station Wagon the seats were similar or the same as the seats of the 80"
