    Thanks Vic.
Done lots of thinking. Now's the right time, end of phase one, start of phase two.
Sad part is, if I manage to get what I want (what I should have bought), I'll be saddled with a yank forum and they're no fun at all.

Nothing's gone 'wrong' as such. The project's just reached a point where it's going to start costing me money. That's fine, it's what you sign up for when starting a restoration. However, it's the end of phase one and the start of phase two - time to reflect.

My true love lies with MG. My experience with Wombat has given me the experience and confidence to tackle basket cases I wouldn't have gone anywhere near before (a certain Midget springs to mind). These are cheap enough (though rare) that I can almost afford one and if I'm going to go that route, now is the time.

There are other reasons as well, but that's the main one.

If Wombat doesn't sell, I'll simply continue working on her and might just paint her pink to annoy the hell out of you

That would annoy me something chronic!

All the best with whatever you do going forward, and even if you sell Wombat and buy a different marque, don't be a stranger - you can still show us what you're up to.

Funnily enough - that was the colour of my first Land Rover. A hand me down 1954 86" back in 1967. Product of a few idle days and several cans of paint left over from painting the doors on one of the farm sheds.

Not hard to find at the saleyards.......

    Cheers,

    Crackers,

Although I think that you will regret not finishing her I understand your feelings.
We will miss your progress reports and sense of humor.
Good luck with the MG and don't be a stranger.

I will miss not finishing her, but it's the right move for me. By cripes I learnt a lot though, I wouldn't be tackling what I'm looking at without what I've been through with her (the only MGs I can afford are genuine basket cases).

Just to save the wondering and horror, she's now up on eBay - bid often, bid high

And please tell me if I've got anything wrong with the ad.
