Pity it's not eBay so we can see what he actually gets for it.

I owned that before the current owner. It has a bit of body damage, slight bit of rust and has a 2.25l petrol engine.

I think we are a bit "old school" here. In this day and age, $8000.00 for a registered vintage car seems like a bargain to me. Particularly considering the vintage has four wheel drive and can be seriously used off road.

In my opinion, a bargain.

Any item is worth only what you can sell it for. While this may be a good price for a vintage car, you have to remember that the vast majority of the Australian vintage buying cohort is only interested in a car if it originated in Detroit, only slightly less if it originated in Detroit but was made in Melbourne or Adelaide.

Further, the majority of the rest are primarily interested in luxury or performance or rare cars.

And Landrovers are relatively cheap to restore, and survive in quite large numbers.

The "old school" people here are ones, by and large, who have either bought and sold old Landrovers, and hence have personal experience in what they sell for, or have been following sales for a long time, and hence have secondary experience.

Those who think that the prices are too low are usually either those whose direct or secondary experience is overseas (and shipping costs mean it is far from the same market), or dreamers who decide value on "what it ought to be worth", ignoring the market.

Good points John and I have no interest in either selling my Land Rover or buying another. I do note however that two Series 3 SWB Landies just like mine sold on Ebay Australia in the last two months for around $9K each. There was over 40 bids on one, the other was a fixed price but the owner accepted an offer that was presumably close to what he was asking which I think was $9K. While I haven't been looking at prices for a long time, I have been looking hard for the last 6 months, because my initial thought was to sell mine. My brother sent me details about one in a car yard in Lismore for $5K "as is". He spoke to the salesman who assured him it would sell. My bro then looked it over and decided it was in very ordinary condition with a heap of work required to get a roadworthy certificate or whatever is needed in NSW.

There are several Land Rovers being restored near where I live. Land Rovers are becoming popular and I expect prices to match soon. Sure there may be heaps of them around, but there is not heaps of roadworthy ones. Most need a heap of work and have been parked outdoors for a long time. Perhaps this one does/has too, but I don't know and it is half way up the country from where I live so I am not looking

This one is a ute, which is handy for a heap of folk and a very useful bush vehicle. I still think $8K is a bargain. I guess we will watch and see if it sells.

hi i do beleive the newer rovers will be giving trouble on the computor side and big dollors to spend where the older ones just plod on i have 75 s3 in the shed not run in yet 63.000 ks on the clock starts on the button regards jim happy xmas to landrover world
