A mate of mine picked up an ex fire vehicle in Qld recently. A 130 300TDI 1997 model with 27k on the clock. He is a mechanic and said that the k's are genuine.

    Thanks guys

I will keep you posted. She is currently in bits at a top UK series 1 restorer, Dunsfold DLR, who do a lot of the heritage stuff for JLR in Solihull.
I am doing a thorough but not OTT restore. Think shabby chic not concours. We plan to convert to a soft top and use on the 2 days it is not raining. Do not worry will be storing the truck cab components for future.
Very exciting project. Have had a Defenders since uni, burn this is by far the most exciting. My 18 year old daughter thinks it is mega cool, quite something for someone with zero interest in cars.
I am down in Oz from Monday in Sydney for the week on business. Would like to find an old Queensland FIre Service decal to put on doors. Any suggestions? Is there anything else a 1957 Landie would have on it that is specific to its Aussie heritage?

This is probably the decal you need.
Print it of or email to a sticker printer and get them to make up a couple.
I did that with the emblem for the Royal Review and it came out well.

Hello all. Restore is now complete. The sign writer has completed his magic and will be on the road this weekend. Phil from Dunsfold the company I have been working with here in the UK on the refurbishment has stripped her back and driven her and has confirmed the 2,000 mileage is genuine. She clearly led a very quiet life in a town with no fires.

We also found the original unused Land Rover supplied tyre as the spare tyre. We have fitted new Avon Traction Mileage as they were the OEM.

I attach some pics. There are more pics on the UK LRSOC site. I have worked really hard to reproduce her as a QLD truck, down to the original Annand & Thompson decals that the sign writer has reproduced for me.
