Because I have removed hundreds of aluminium rivets from Land Rovers of almost every model. These are more like a steel rivets but retain a dull shine and do not rust or corrode. What else could have been used in the early 1950s with those properties.

The round headed solid rivets on the same models were aluminium or al alloy.

Ask over on the LRSOC site. I think its Tankman sells packs of rivets.

Are we talking about pop rivets? Possibly some form of stainless steel. If you have a sample you have removed, take it to a fastener specialist or perhaps a marine chandler.

We are talking about blind/pop rivets but unfortunately its a decade since I removed them. The project stalled as the GFC hit and my finances tanked at the same time.

On the Exmoore trim seats, got an email back today, the hinge assemblies are optional extras. So looks like I'm removing the hinges from the original squabs.

    Good thought.

I used too be a financial member of the LRSOC a long time since I visited that site.

    Hello again from Patancheru.

Look's like good things do come to those who wait, or ask again.

    Cheers,

    Neil
