    G'day,

From the Solex Tune up handbook:

To pre-set the volume control screw, turn it gently until it seats within the casting and then unscrew two full turns.

    carb

    Hi Mark

Just my opinion, the original carbies Solex 32 PBI, are not the easiest part of a series 1 to get running to a satisfactory point. Many owners on the UK forum just give up on the Solex and fit a Weber 34ICH which are available new.

The Solex seems to have a very narrow range of where it will function correctly . Very frustrating. They are very sensitive to the fuel input psi and the float level is tricky to adjust with modern fuel and its additives.

It was running in a passable Manor before it came of, just getting back to a starting point after I correctly routed all the acceleratior linkages and replaced the missing choke lever( carb end) ...swaped in a different battery and its starting fairly easily now..figure there was no point trying to set the timing etc till the carb was in the ball park...getting there , but you know what they can be like lol
