    Tyres for a 80"

Just wondering what are the alternatives for 80" tyres these days ? I am using 600 - 16 NDT's or bar treads ,these are not the safest tyres around but that's all I have ATM . I have ROK 231601 rims on my 80" , these rims look good . Thanks Mike

After doing some research, it seems that there isn't much choice of tyres available if you wish to stick with the narrow 5" SWB rims.

The wider 5.5" rims do offer a chance to fit a larger range of tyres. The 205r16 radials which are a common size would need 6" rims I think ?

Antique Tyres advertise a 600.16 Avon tyre to fit a 4.00 - 6.00 rim. No idea of the cost, but reckon they would not be cheap. good looking 4 x 4 tyre all the same.

There are Avon's back in stock here in AUS. Received confirmation that mine arrived a few weeks ago. Not bad, considering I placed the order last June! But I prefer the original look to be honest and was happy to wait. m

Not quite 6.00 x 16 but I bought a set of STA 6.50 x 16 - 6 plys recently from Antique Tyres , $285 each . Very happy with them , (apart from all the safety warnings embossed into the sidewalls) .

Technically yes. But ..... I have had 205's fitted to my 5" rims for a number of years with no issues.

That's what you get when you don't read properly

My point was that 205's can be fitted to 5" rims as I have done.
