Hi Guys,

I have a 54 86" build # 392.

The information I have been able to find so far indicates that all 86" models had a black chassis, but mine is green. Having stripped it down the chassis has definitely always been bronze green.
As many of the components on it are stamped 53, I am wondering whether there was a period early in the 86" life where the chassis were still painted green.

Any info would be appreciated..

I have an '56 with a green chassis which the 'experts' say is incorrect.
I spoke with a gentleman some years ago who worked at regent Motors in Melbourne and with CKD kits the main chassis rails & crossmembers came in 'loose' and were welded together at Regents, they even had the outriggers made locally to increase the 'local' content. If they were welded up locally they were probably painted locally so maybe some assemblers painted them green and others black ??

There's a couple of pictures in this thread 1956 Series 1 with PTO welder (home made) you can clearly see the green over a yellow primer.

Yes, CKD according to the serial No. I have also since been informed that 54's were green, and then black from 55 on....yours would seem to indicate different.
