Series 2 diffs and housings same as series one 86 inch

I have the option to obtain a low Milage series 2 ute with low Milage diffs and great front swivel joints, I can get these for free, will these fit as standard series 1?

Yes, but! Series diffs (except some very early 80") are fully interchangeable right up to the end of Series 3 except for Stage 1. But you need to be aware that they will also interchange with Range Rover classic, D1 and some Rover car diffs that may have a different ratio (and someone may have done this in the last fifty years). Also note that late Series 2a 109 utes may have a salisbury diff that is not interchangeable.

The housings are not interchangeable, as the track is wider on the Series 2/2a/3.

However, everything except the actual axle housing and the inner half shafts at the front and the half shafts at the back can be swapped to the Series 1 housings. There are quite a few detail differences, but swapping as assemblies should work.

Cheers. Diff centres and the ball swivels are what I would really only use. Thanks again
