Back to Series 1, for those who have fully floating rear hubs having difficulty finding replacement halfshafts, Barry Ward "HiTough" axles in Carrara Qld will make replacement rear halfshafts in S1 length to order . However he only cuts 24 splines on the outside, requiring you use his flanges or the standard Land Rover 24 spline flanges. For the pedantic amongst us, many years ago people were able to cut 24 splines into 10 spline flanges so it would be worthwhile asking Barry if he would be prepared to machine and use his 24 spline brooch through the older star pattern flanges.

I would also be possible to convert a regular 24 spline drive flange into one resembling a Series One 'star' shaped flange on a milling machine . They are only hardened on the spline , and probably not at all on a Britpart Item .
