That sounds a bit strange. As far as I know the earliest ones had 27 full squares across, followed by the normal 26 square ones..W.

I bought a 48 grill a few years ago for $5 then swaped it for a capstan winch about 6 months later. I didn't know it was a 48 grill when I bought it & hung it on my garage wall untill a friend spotted it & asked were I got it & made me the offer , he needed it for the 48 he was restoring.
