Tiny bit excited

1. As suggested bought some new brake fluid from my online order at SCA, hopefully two bottles should be enough

2. popped into bunnnings and purchased full set of door stops for the seat backs, had 4 realised needed another two for the centre seat back

3. got sick of seeing my tub up against the fence so it was time to refit temp, not bolted yet

4. couldn't resist the temptation to put the tailgate on

5. I am having door alignment issues, the reason for the door on the vehicle, might need to play around and move the firewall fwd if there is room to move. firewall is not bolted tight.

Still waiting on front brake parts to come in, got my rear brake pipes redone and have ordered new brake cylinders for the rear.

There should be adjustment in the bulkhead, Loosen the securing bolts & get the door gaps rite before re tightening . If it is like a 80" the large long bolt at the bottom of the pillar you can put packing washers in or take them out between the bulkhead & chassis to open & close up the door gap.

Attachment 159717 Attachment 159718 Fit or remove spacer washers between bulk head & out rigger to open & close door opening , all the other securing bolts have enough clearance in the holes for forward & backwards adjustment at the top. There should also be adjustment were the hinge bolts to the door.

As 1950Landy says - the adjustment is in the bulkhead position - the tub is not adjustable.

1. un-boxing of new parts delivered today

2. as you can see the entire kit for the front brakes, thankfully they fitted (was worried may have ordered the wrong set for the 11inch front brakes)

3. there always seems to be a problem, this time a shortage of nuts and spring washers for the brake cylinders, there are 4 cylinders in total but nuts for 2 only, have emailed Aust supplier to sort out for me.

4. brakes all together fitted up, the bottom spring gave me grief until it slotted into position and thought to tackle other side tomorrow perhaps, drum needed some encouraging to slide over but adjusted brakes and rotates freely. another problem though

5. thinking i was done on one side but not quite, the flexible hose will not bolt up now till i loosen the brake cyl and slide back to give more access from behind. oh well. sort out tmrw. that bleed nipples needs to come out and the flex hose goes instead

rear brakes finally sorted today and wheels back on. noticed with my kit came 4 bleed nipples not sure why when i can only use two. due to the brake pipe which connects top to bottom cylinder.

As mentioned in my post # 639 a few days ago, one of the backing plates still has the two wheel cylinders fitted, so there are your missing nuts.
That is, if you are interested in getting the snail adjusters etc?

tried to send you a private message but you are full so cannot. thank you for the offer whether paid or free not sure what is on offer here. I have emailed my supplier for new nuts which i hope they will fwd in time otherwise could have a look around the shed for some nuts or even buy some if i get desperate. Lots of other stuff yet to do while i wait to hear back from supplier. Again thank you.

The two 11" brake backing plates complete with freely moving snails are available free to a good cause.
One also has the two wheel cylinders and connecting pipe still fitted.

Well today did not start off well, still on the front brakes and have re done them 3 times or more for one reason or another

1. Can you pick the mistake... flex hose in wrong hole hitting up against the steering, of course did not pick this up till i moved to the other side then figured this mistake out.

2. whole thing came apart to re fit the correct way round, sorted

3. the other side is the p/s, almost impossible to get these out so may need the angle grinder to cut up, bolts have limited access and have rusted in

4. on top of all that, this p/s has a broken screw which i will need to drill out or hammer chiesel out.

Not the best day moving fwd but hay its still progress kinda. will need some more studs for the wheels and nuts once i work out how many i need to order or source. hopefully next couple of days the brakes will be done except for bleeding them. then i can move onto the alignment of the bulkhead and doors.

P/side brake front giving me grief, the brake cylinders, bleed nipple and brake pipe connecting top and bottom cylinders all connected and look to be correctly install but those damn shoes will not go on due to the higher then normal pressure required to get the shoes stretched enough to slide on. beginning to question whether the shoes are different on the other side already fitted, or my cylinder are pointing in the wrong direction perhaps requiring more force to spread the shoes. gave up for the day but will need to look at some pics to determine whats wrong. everything looks ok but shoes will not spread enough to get onto the cylinders. not sure whats wrong.

4. found this pic on the internet if correct then mine is wrong. the spring is on the opposite end to the rubber boot on brake cylinder. might have to check my driver side again to ensure spring is on the correct end. figured it out, that pic must be of the driver side. i think i have attempted to place the spring on the boot end not the other end. will give it a go again tmrw and hopefully that will be the brakes till bleeding time.

In the last photo it looks like the shoes are on wrong , the pins should be at the back of the shoes for the adjusters push on the pins to adjust the brakes. the shoes out.
