Did you have any luck tracking down a supplier of the copper vacuum advance tubing?

Also, is this 1/8 internal or external diameter?

I am after some for my Series 3 with a 2.6 litre six cylinder petrol motor. Does anyone know if the diameter changed for the six cylinder motor instead of a Series 1 four cylinder?

So far the most frequent suppliers I have found have been for supplying tubing for automotive gauges.

I've got a coil of 1/8" ID if you want a bit. It's got a thick wall, so ends up about 1/4" OD

The local miniature steam railway society has pointed me to a supplier in Hobart - an industrial hose and liquid handling supplier. As I understand it, tube is measured in outside diameter, pipe by inside diameter. The stuff I need for the 2 litre setup is tube with 1/8 inch outside diameter to suit the soldered screw fittings.

I also have a 2.6 litre engine but the vacuum advance tube has push-on fittings at both ends. I have seen them set up with a copper tube with a short rubber section at each end. On mine I use rubber vacuum hose for the whole thing.

Thanks for the offer, Don. The stuff I’m after is 1/8 in OD, to suit screw fittings soldered on at both ends, so don’t think the thicker section would work. Thanks again. Roger

You could try Lionel Otto Instruments 124 Evans Rd Salisbury , Brisbane 07 32773888. The guy there is a Land Rover guy. They use small diametre copper tubing for oil lines & vacume lines . If he doesn't have any he may know were you can buy it.
I also see some on ebay under toys games & steam. Also listed as refrigeration tubing. You to make sure it is soft copper tubing so you can bend it with out it kinking

Reece plumbing had some here in Albany, also try Heatcraft and Actrol refrigeration wholesalers.
