Thread: Gladys lives!

Hello all. Gladys the series 2a 109 Ute with a Holden 186 arrived on Monday and I had to wait an entire week of work to get a good look. I knew she turned over but there was no go.

I drained the fuel which was a nasty brown colour. Cleaned out the lines and refilled it with fresh fuel with just a dash down the carby . It took a couple of goes but eventually she started. Yay.

The plan is get it to start (tick). Make sure it stops. See if it will move and then pull it apart and make her look great.

Tomorrow will be brakes. Peddle goes straight to the floor.

My 11 year old daughter will be helping with the restoration. Very excited.

Not much in the history department. She has spent most of her time in the South East of SA close to the SA/VIC border. Serial number on the plate matches the number stamped on the chassis. Built somewhere between 63 and 66 I think.

Basically been a farm Ute. Not too much rust that I can see from getting under it. Doors have some issues but it came with some spares so that should sort that out.

I am going to have a look for the gear box and axel numbers to see if I can narrow it down using the letter prefixes. If you have any pointers for history tracking it would be greatly appreciated
