Sliding Window Bailey Channels for Perspex Windows

I purchased a lovely new set of perspex windows from the UK Club store, for my 1953 80" but I am now unsure if the standard Bailey Channel that is sold, is the correct one for Perspex Window. The old windows I have now removing have an aluminium U section riveted to all of the edges. This might have been done to bulk out the thickness so they fit better in the Bailey Channel or just for added strength. The new perspex Windows are 3.5mm thick, and glass that is used in some vehicles is usually 5mm. The parts manual is of no help at all.

Has anyone had an issue with the fitting of perspex windows in the standard channel?

    Many thanks

I found a window bailey channel profile at Rare Spares that fitted inside the original steel channel.
