Gentlemen,
I wish to learn which steering arm is the Steering Drop arm and which is the upper relay arm. Can someone help?
I have 1953 S1 80”. As with all Series vehicles, it has three steering arms.
The Steering Drop arm, Part 242259 / 595123, the Upper Relay Arm Part 242180 / 531040 and the Lower Relay arm.
The Drop Arm and the Upper Relay arms are very similar in appearance, both being straight and fairly feature-less but one being slightly longer than the other.
As neither have their part numbers stamped on the metal, and the WorkShop manual is silent regarding their locations, can someone tell me where the longer and the shorter arms are meant to go?
Thanks BSF, I'll measure it up.
I replaced all the arms about 2 years ago, when I found some movement at the splines. Naturally, I don't throw anything out, so whenI stripped the steering down to paint , I chucked all the arms into the blaster, cleaned them and painted up nicely. All good, until I came to working out which arm went where. Fortunately most are obvious, but the drop arm V the Upper relays arm had me confused.
Many thanks for the advice.
regards
Jeff
