    Leccy bits

    Hiyas all

Just a "for info" and good oil perhaps.

While finding that I couldn't find a pair of Lucas style headlights, pre focus or QI RHD in the country, never mind at a reasonable price did visit Dr Google under "vintage headlights". Whacko, lotsa headlights! Where? Well India of course! Home of the Morris Oxford; Matchless, Triumph and AJS bikes. All of which use standard vintage electrics from the "Prince of Darkness". Indian ones might have better internals than the originals. Wouldn't be hard.

While looking for the appropriate Lucas lights but now with QI H4s did come across lots of links for other stuff. I could also have bought original pre-focus bulb headlights C/W new bulbs. Recollections of long night drives with 55W incandescent pre focus bulbs ruled that out when I could get QIs that look the same ...................................and ....................and free freight, not exorbitant pommy rates.

    Cheers

I have been getting good service and brilliant lights for my Land Rovers from Duncan at Classic Car LEDS Ltd in the UK. I bought a pair of new Lucas 700 style LUB328 7" H4 headlamps and 2 compact LED H4 P43T 472 Compact Motorcycle conversion bulbs from Duncan last year. They look the same as the old original Lucas 700 headlamps but have a really strong white beam and very low current draw , so there is no need to add a relay as needed for halogen H4's. If you send him an email, he will price them up as a kit at a bit of a discount. He has always been quite reasonable with his postage costs. From memory I think it cost me around $200.00 (ish) for the two headlight conversion kits. I now enjoy driving at night. Previously I was reluctant to drive at night with the STD 35/45W BPF originals. Like candles! He also does really good white park light/ amber indicator LED BAY15D bulbs so you can convert the S1 L489 sidelamps to park/indicator combo lights with L488 bulb holders from AES.
